trouble seeing oil level

This sounds dumb but I'm not able to see the oil level on dipstick since switching from dyno to syn. I know I have oil but it don't show up like it did with the black stuff, dipstick looks wet but not able to tell exact level. Any suggestons

Now you've went and opened the dino/syn can of worms again. I can see it now......

The only thing that sounds dumb is the answers.

It is like the emperor's new clothes. Did you put in the invisable syn oil in the light weight cannisters? did they give you the special dye?

uuhh, how 'bout this:

where the "wetness" stops on the dipstick is the level?

Wellllll....I know that NO ONE wants to start this up...cuz' this discussion is sssoooo old.but...you can use a different oil like Mobil V-Twin..and it is easier to read. Redline in tranny aids visibility. Ok...I said it. Now the thread ends.

When I switched over to synthetic, it was very difficult to tell the oil level the first couple of times I checked it. It eventually became easier. Don't know if its harder to see, and I eventually got used to it, or if the syn doesn't stick to the dipstick as well, until the dyno is diluted. Good luck.

Well the first time I used mobil 1, I couldn't see the level either.
So I got some oil base black paint, and put a pint in the oil pan. WTF its got oil in it and its black so it shows up just great on the dip stick. Be warned that you use this method at you own risk.
