Will I like the 2009 Screaming Eagle Road Glide? Coming off of Road Kings?
Just Confused. Should I get a Road Glide, or an Ultra Classic.
I love the Styling and Color of the CVO Road Glide. But have heard Mixed Reviews.
I need comfort, able to hear the Radio and a Softer ride than my 2005 Road King.
But I do not like the Confinement of the Ultra Classic.

I think that you will like it, but you should keep the Road King just in case you don't. You will know after the first week and then I will be glad to take whichever is left.

Wish that I could, but at $31,000.00 I need to use the RK for Trade Value.

How Couldnt You Love A Glide, Fixed Fairing Is Way Better Than Bar Mounts If You Do Long Distance Rides? Plus The 09 Glide Reminds Me Of My College Crotch Rocket Days, This Bike Is Rock Steady Through Hard Corners At Twice The Posted Speed.

My thoughts on the matter.
We took a little road trip to Texas to see my folks on my 09 Road Glide CVO. Left Albuquerque, NM last Wednesday evening and rode all night, after all the stops arrived in the hot Texas morning sun 104 degree 100 percent humidity at 10am. 13 hour trip give or take a few. Now I understand when someone talks about the "Texas heat". Texas hell is more like it! Anyhow, had a great time and headed back Saturday night approximately 1500 miles round trip give or take a few miles. After seeing, swerving and ducking an adult fox, couple baby fox's, couple coyotes, a thousand deer, two armadillo's, one gray/dark owl and a white bird that flew up out of the middle of the road and hit my foot at 75mph we arrived safely in the 54 degree weather of the Piedmont region of the southern Rockies.
So the question is how did the 2009 Road Glide CVO perform? I have to say the bike did exceptionally well, rode smooth all the way, opened it up on some back destitute roads in New Mexico to 105mph and all went well as the 110 did its thing. The seat did better than expected for such a long ride, plenty of room with my 6'3" frame to adjust around on the seat and stretch the legs. Deb got a little cramped from time to time on the back seat but all in all we were not beat up or worn out after the 700mile leg.
We ran into a storm, rain did not seem to be any problem, as a matter of fact I expected the engine to be dirty from the road puddles and it was actually in pretty good shape as the front slammed fenders and the foot boards kept the water out of the engine area, now the pipes is another story as they got the full brunt of the road water.
The only problem was the saddle bags; the screws worked themselves out of one of the hinges on the lids, so you can actually open the lid from the back. I will have it back at Harley, to fix that, I had two screws left out of 10. The other bag was fine as far as I could tell.
I know, I would not have been able to pull that long ride off with my 07 softtail custom, 300 miles on that bike and it was calling it a day. The Road Glide, if it was not for lack of sleep, I could have ridden another 500 miles.

For me, I'd take the RG over the Ultra. Especially the CVO Road Glide!

Give it about 3 weeks. There may well be an Ultra Road Glide in your future.

I was torn between a streetglide and a road glide. I rented an 09 street glide for a weekend trip and also tried my buddys 09 roadglide. The choice was clear. I am happy I traded my 02 road king for the 09 CVO road glide.

l picked up a new 09 EG standard the other day, you wont regret it, the brakes with the ABS will proberly save your life let alone the way it handles. l to was in two minds but once l rode it, it was chalk and cheese , its that much better. Like what others said to me just do it, now to hot rod the thing, good luck

I got on my 09 CVO RG tonight for the 1st time. As soon as it turned 500 Miles, I hammered down on it. Very smooth power. It does run a Little Hot though. And still getting used to the electronic Throttle.

I'm partial to my '02 SERK but, I've taken a few cruises on an '07 RG and the fixed fairing is NICE!
In my humble opinion, you can't miss with a CVO.

I have a 09 FLTRSE3 with about 2,000 on the clock and love it.
My 4th HD and 2nd Glide wouldnt have any other, Put 35k on the last Glide before I sold it.
Put tourpak, speakers, cables, intercom etc on the 09 glide and now I have an 09 FLTRSE3 Ultra
Put on V&H 09 true duals with Rhinehardt cut with the bac 4" slip ons and Saddleman road sofa for the long haul. Changed the bars to wild ones RG bars for a little more pull back and a little narrower.
Has all the power I need for me at 260 and wife @ 160 2 up go anywhere in comfort

Road Glide hands down. While the bat wing looks a bit better, the shark nose rides better at slow speed, in the wind and such.

I agree, just ride them both and you will see, the road glide rides better
