Dyna using Oil

I have a 2007 CVO Dyna. I got it with 1600 miles on it. I now have 4600 miles. Its used a quart of oil in that time. Harley dealer says that all Harleys use oil. I have never owned a bike that used oil...except a 1971 Triumph Bonneville. I was thinking of switching to Amsoil. It may hold up better than The SE oil. So should I make a big stink about it? The service guy at Harley said a quart in a 1000 is acceptable. That seems totally outrageous to me.

I do not agree that your bike should be using oil as your being told. That is not a "normal" thing to expect with a 2007 model H-D.

A quart in three thousand miles is excessive in my opinion, mine sure doesn't do that!

Unusual. Are you following the directions in your owner's manual in checking the level?
If not, there will be variations in the reading.

Heh! But if he was getting "variations" I would be more worried how he's getting a new quart in when its saying its a quart low.

using oil

I always check on the jiffy stand. It does not vary much when cold or hot. So here is what Harley states as the official position: One quart in 1,000 miles is acceptable. Can you believe that? So, I guess if I want it fixed, its on my dime, even though its under warranty. DOES THAT SUCK OR WHAT!!!!
