09 SE Ultra

I have 09 SE Ultra, I would gladly have my 05 SE back, My rear jug is at or above 300 degrees after a short ride in 70 degree weather. The heat is almost unbearable, for the $$ I paid, Harley's answer is this is normal. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions?

Welcome to the board. I'd suggest you go to My Story, The Beginning and introduce yourself. Search the forum. There's lots of experience and help here. I'm awaiting delivery of an 09 CUSE myself. From what I can tell, everything made since 07 tends to be lean and consequently hot from the factory.

Along with the more HP and TQ from 110cuin comes more heat. The larger the motor the higher the compression the hotter it runs. Slip on mufflers and tuning it will help! not alot but its well worth doing . Mostly on that rear cylinder, you may not like the heat I'll bet you love the power and TQ.

Wow expensive taste huh!!!! Find yourself a good Indy/tuner in your area.Have a TTS Mastertune done on the bike. It's the best tuner available for your bike.TTS mastertune is the very same product as the SERT but a newer version. It is made by the same people who made the SERT for HD.Your bike will run alot cooler and develope more HP/TQ!!!!!!!

Not to kick a man in the nuts on his own thread, but that's why I traded a 2006 ultra for a 2006 SE ultra. I always wanted a CVO bike, but nothing newer than a 2006 for me. It took me a year and a half to find exactly what I wanted for the price I wanted to pay, but in the end, it's worth it. I have ridden in 100 degree temps, stop and go traffic, no excessive heat. I wish I had an answer fer ya, but a good start is posted above. Exhaust, Air cleaner, and a tuner. It's still gonna be hotter than a similar '06 or older bike....

I got my 08 delivered with 103 stage 2 kit and racetuner with the canned map... It was hot like hell ... Then I made some adjustments to the race tuner and have since tuned it with Twin-Scan II/ Wego tuning aid... Runs PERFECT --- my heads rarely goes hotter than 260 - if they do it is after prolonged stop and go on a hot day then I have seen them reach 360 degs ,- But isn't that ok after ½ hour stop and go ??... MY 06 Road King would have quit - after 20 mins. (temperature management system on a 06 makes engine shut down above 360 I beleive)

Rooster - get a Fuel Management system like the Mastertune areainvester suggested and get it tuned - then there is no reason your 09 should be any hotter than your 05..Big bonus is that your 09 will run a lot smoother and develop more ponies as well

My right foot has been get roasted on the 09.

A D&D fact with quiet performance baffle header is getting sent out to be jethot coated and a sert should fatten the fuel up to reduce the heat.

That worked on my 07 serk just fine.

Good luck wiht whatever direction you go.

We have an 07 electra Glide 96"as well as an 08 Electra glide 96".We took delivery of an 09 Road Glide last week. The 07 has BUB Seven tru-duals,power commander, screamin eagle air filter.Engine and exhaust are considerably cooler than stock. The 08 has same BUB exhaust,Dobeck fuel controler, stock air filter and also runs cooler than stock. The 09 was quite a bit hotter in stock form than either of the earlier bikes. In stopped traffic it was annoying.A Dobeck controller along with a set of prototype BUB seven Tru duals and now it feels like the earlier bikes. The 09 tru duals should be released in about a month I was told.Ours is a CA bike which means it has a cat in the head pipe unlike yours. The 2010 49 states will probably be catalyst equipped also.I haven not seen any dyno results comparing the stock 2-1 with an aftermarket 2-1.I am more than satisfied with the 09`s performance and cooler running with the changes we made.We ride over Donner summit on a regular basis, and if they will pull 6th when carring a load,I`m happy.Hope this helps
