CVO Dyna- Fork lock problem

Does anyone have a Dyna which the fork lok does not lock? Appears that the pin and hole dont line up on my 2007 FXDSE. Another person I know has the same problem. The worst possible scenario is the case. The pin and hole in lower triple clamp is off-set front to back! That means there is no way to file down a stop to make it line up. Whole was drilled in wrong location. I cant believe that Harley never tried the fork lock at the factory. I assume that all the Dyna tripple clamps are drilled wrong since they were probably machined on a CNC.

I have a 07 FXDSE and had same problem. Dealer can adjust lock to get it to work. I thought same as you, but actually it rotates causing problem. Dealer fixed mine twice and then just replaced whole thing. 2500 mi since seems okay so far. Hope this helps.

Keep the lock lubricated with powered graphite and you'll have less problems with it. You can get powdered graphite at any hardware store. My fork lock started acting up last year and this cured it.

fork lock

Took to dealer, and yes you are correct. They fixed it in 15 minutes. Thanks for the tip on the graphite. Think I will get some.

Question Fork lock also

What did the dealer do to correct the fork lock problem?? Is it something that I can do myself. I dont like taking things to the stealership unless absolutely necessary. I have a SE Dyna, '07, and the lock works with the forks straight, but not turned or parked with forks turned. I didnt want to disasemble the forks, but will if necessary.

The lock moves inside the mounting hole putting pin in wrong position to drop in hole. Dealer adjusted mine twice and then replaced entire switch. It hasn't moved in the last 3000 mi.. Personaly I hate it, but like the switch not being on the tank. Have also heard that an aluminum sleeve inside can break. Then whole thing can jam and not turn at all. Mine didn't but a few times I had to really wiggle key to get bike started. Get them to replace might be your best route.
