Smile 2007 CVO FXDSE- First ride

My wife and I took aour first ride together on the new Harley. It was great, except for the grounding out of the muffler connecting bar. Man, no ground clearance! Having other sport touring and sport bikes, I must retrain myself to "go slow". I weigh 285, and we were riding two up, so I guess I will have to adapt. What an unusual motor. At 2K rpm you can actually feel the pistons underneath you. Only hit 6th gear once. Seems the smoothest at around 2800 - 3000. Did have it up to 5K once. At freeway speed those mirrors are about useless.

RE: better shocks

Does Harley offer stiffer spings for those shocks? I hate to ruin the look if I have to dispense with those chrome covers.

I would look at Progressive shocks, and not the cheap ones. I am not sure if HD offers stiffer springs or not.

I have an '07 FXDSE also. My mirrors were useless. I talked with my dealer and got my choice of mirrors to replace them. They are great now.

cant you crank up the preload on the shocks? the wrench for my wide glide cost 12 bucks. I'mm 300lbs and run the preload at the 3rd setting solo and on 5 when 2 up. no bottoming out!!

You better check the shocks. Make sure they have been adjusted for you!

Also check the fluids, tranny, oil and primary.

When I bought my "new" 07 softail.

It practically had no tranny fluid. They didn't do the prep, though they charged me.

Also the lock nut on the fork had to be tightened.

good luck enjoy
