2008 FLHTCUSE3 Exhaust Question
All,
Just got my new FLHTCUSE3. Runs great, but hotter than hell. Want to add exhaust and SERT or PC. Dealer says SERT and PC are not yet available for the new ECM. Does anyone know if this is true? I would like to put on true duals, any suggestions as to best pipes.
Thanks,
Mike

I am still waiting on my SE but from what I have been told by my people at the local HD shop is that HD has not come out with any information on the pipes or downloads that can be put on them and would more than likely not come out with any information until sometime in September

Will a 2007 sert work? If it will work, what is to keep you from having a dyno and a custom map done?

The SERT or PC doesn't exist yet. Nothing to tweek the map with. I assume its because of the new throttle by wire and new ECM. PC is close to a release though.

Hi Mike,
I have a 07 FLHTCUSE2 and went with the Rinehart TD's. Everyone told me that they would be too loud, I love them and so do others that hear it. It made the bike run cooler the first time I ran it. I think they are the hottest pipes around and you may have to wait for backorder, I waited 6 weeks when I ordered mine from Parts Direct, and it was worth it.
Good Luck,
Tork

Tork,
I really like the looks of the Rineharts, but I have also been told they are very loud. How would you compare them to the screaming eagle mufflers, or the Vance and Hines TDs? Did you change the AC and get a SERT or PC?
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Yes they are loud, they have a real throaty sound at idle. They will bark very loud at WOT but I rarely go there. I think they sound much better that SE but that is just an opinion as far as V&H and others I havent heard them side by side, I'm just really happy with the RHTD's. I did the AC and SERT also. Now runs much much cooler. Hope this helps.

The 2008 SERT's are now available.
According to another CVO Forum, the part number is 32107-01L. The 2007 SERT will not work on a 2008 model because of such things as the throttle by wire, etc..

You're right. The '08 ECM has an integrated cruise control which takes advantage of the fly by wire this year on the touring bikes. Also the ABS brakes has had some changes I've been told.
I did see one person on the other forum with a new '08 SERT, but don't remember exactly what it was about.
I have a new '08 SERK on order and I've already purchased the V&H Dresser Duals and their Oval mufflers. I like them better than the Reinhardt (spelling).
I called and talked to Power Commander and they said it would be probably out into December before the new module is finished.
I'm not sure about the V&H Fuel Pak or the TMAX units, they may be out sooner.

power commander
The power commander for the 08's are out and available but in limited supply. I have heard that they do not back their systems to well so I am holding off.
I am still waiting on my FLHTCUSE3 "anniversay Edition", which was scheduled to ship 8-16 but will ship next week........... I have been talking with a couple different dealers and they have suggested that I wait until Dec-Jan time frame to see what comes out.
I am wanting to have 2-1 put in with a ghost pipe as well, but D&D has to remake their ghost pipes as HD reworked the engine setup some and the pipes don't line up too well.
So for me I will be running stock pipes for a couple of months and then see what is out there...........

Does this mean that the 2-1 portion fitment hasn't changed? I can always order the ghost pipe ('08 RG) in the Spring.

I am going to try to ride our bike just the way it came. That is of course if my right thigh doesn't get burnt off first. I just wish we could buy the bikes and enjoy 'em without spending more money.

I just installed a set V&H ovals, they look and sound great. Covers up the top end noise that the MoCo insist is normal.

exhaust question
I finally got mine in Oct.; I could feel the heat you talk about, but I decided to go with some Rineharts, I had a set of true duals put on them, man can she bark, it has reduced the heat some which I am thankful for. I have noticed that if you are at an idle it will hesitate a little if you goose the throttle.
I have been told that with the computer set up on it, it is basically a Harley thing for them to run it on 800mAmps. If they would change it down to 500mAmps it would create a delay in the exhaust sensors and drop the temp down to the point of almost not feeling any heat. I found a place up in Mass. that will allow you to do it and then dyno it and you would not believe the results. I am thinking about running up there this spring and see what I can do.
