I've been horsing w/ black powder for maybe 15 yrs. It's dirty and slow, but a nice change of pace.
I built a .54 cal. Plains Buffalo Rifle from a kit. Re-built/repaired a .45 cal. caplock a friend handed me as a pile of rust from the storage bin under his camp trailer.
Picked up a Wells Fargo from the "as is" (as in broken) bin at the local gun shop, $15. The trigger spring had been installed upside down.
Philadelphia Deringer (one R) -- replica of the one used by John Wilkes Booth. I think $20 on that one because it was collecting dust in the display case.
Stainless Pietta Remington replica, 44 cal. 7" bbl.
And my buddy and I got together on his machine lathe and turned out a small naval cannon. I built the carriage from wood scraps and items I found in the local marine hardware supply.
