The Kahr is a sweet firearm. To me, it's well worth the $$$. I have the .45.

I never shot the PM9. I was looking for one when I bought the PF9.

My PF9 has been dependable. No errors in about 200 rounds.

It's light weight and a thin handle makes it a bruiser when shooting.

I usually wear a glove when shooting it for long periods of time.

I have a lot of guns I could carry but I always grab my P3At 380 keltec. I looked hard at the new PF9 and decided that it was big enough that I would always take the 380. If I want bigger I would use my H&K USP compact 45. -Al

keltec.

Given the two I would opt for the Kahr. I have a Kel Tec P-11 and for a while figured it was a great carry pistol with a good round count for the size.

Each range day I would put 10-20 rounds through it just to make sure all was well being as it is a plastic pistol.

One day at the range it went Bang and then nothing...Trigger was swinging free as something had broken or came undone. Not the best thing to have happen if I would have truely need to fire the weapon in self defence.

Called Kel Tec and told them what had happened and he knew just what the problem was. Told me to send it in and they would fix it just that simple.

Well if Kel tec Knows of the Problem why not just correct the problem rather than wait for it to happen.

My P-11 is back and has been for years, never fired and now just deemed a range gun and nothing more as I can't count on it not to break again.

There are a lot of small, subcompact pistols out there with a great track record. The Kahr, S&W 637, SA XD and even a Compact Glock....But I wouldn't put my life up to a Kel Tec anything.

Forgive me but I come from a differnet mind set where the cheapest options is mostly likey one that should never be considered.

I would imagine you, your family, wife and children are worth spending a little more than $200.00 to keep them safe if ever need be or so I would hope?

Just my opinion and nothing more.

Karsten

anything mechanical can fail....i would be willing to bet that if you called one of the other manufacturers and told them the same thing they would probably have an idea of what it is also...they all have repair departments and i'm sure they all do their share of repairs...nobody would ant a failure in a combat situation but the reality is it is a possibility...regardless of track record...

as far as fixing them all...it may not be a common problem...just one they are familiar with...doesnt mean every one of them is gonna fail...

Why do you need to carry while riding?

Is Bike jacking/crime etc that bad in the states?

Or is it just for peace of mind should anything unexpected happen?

Have to forgive my nieveness (spelling) just dont hear alot about these things where im from.

Nah - bike jacking is not bad here. I've carried for about 20 years an never had to pull it out except to clean it. I hope it stays that way.

But ya know - you had the guy in Texas who drove his car into a restaurant and began shooting, you've got drive bys. My father always said "Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6"

My life would be over if I were ever in a situation where I could have saved a member of my family had I been carrying.

carrying a gun and not needing it beats needing a gun and not carrying it hands down...

its a 1 in a million shot its gonna happen to you but youll feel better if youre prepared when it does...if the only time you fire it is at the range then youre saving money on lawyers and ammo...

watch this and it might clear the question up for you...

Why do people have homeowner's insurance? Fire and flood insurance? Accidental death or dismemberment insurance? Disability insurance? Locks on house doors?

Just like some kinds of insurance, it's something you hope you never have to use - and most people don't. But if you ever need it, you're screwed if you don't have it.

And just like periodically reviewing your insurance coverages and making sure they're up-to-date, you should practice with, and clean, your gun(s) to ensure proper function if needed.

Most riders that carry concealed handguns do not intend to stay on the bike the entire time they are out. So when they leave the relative safety and peace of the bike they would be unprotected the rest of the time.

I have the PM9 and it works for me. Reasons;
1) Over 700 rounds-no problems. Fires every time.

2) Fits in my back pocket without showing/printing. I carry more than either my Mini-Cougar 45 or Kimber 45. So I have it IF I need it and not an empty pocket.

3) Not a target pistol, but small group for such a small weapon.

4) Back to small enough to carry in pocket or belt camera case that hides its a weapon. Even long trips with family & friends, only wife knows I have it because she asks.
