FN 5.7mm Five-seveN
What can you all tell me about this pistol? The little bit I've read so far is very intriguing.

Ammunition will break you. They are cool if you are into that sort of thing. But if you want something to carry or for HD, I'd stick with something more mainstream.

I've got a couple of the XD9SC's. Same size as the .40. I love them!

GEEZ..the title of the thread is the weapon Homesick is asking about guys....has nothing to do with the photo of the DC43. And then right into buying a Glock 40.

Looks and sounds like a pretty potent weapon. Then again, I don't know if that guy is hitting anything.
and here's everything you might want to know.

I sure have never seen one but then again..maybe I'll just buy a Glock 40 and ignore your question. Couldn't resist.

Right, but he apparently posted a link he didn't intend to, thus the responses. Besides, all you have to do is google "FN 5.7mm Five-seveN" and you get lots of information about the gun.

The link is part of his signature. I believe he was trying to find out if any of us had any personal experience with the weapon since the internet is full of info.

I don't know what's up with the DC43 link. It used to be a gif and changed to a link shortly after the site changed hands. It wasn't anything I did.
Since we're on the subject, how do I get the gif back?

Mostly, I can't picture that gun having a lot of stopping power.

fn 5.7
i have the pistol and the rifle.sweet little ammo.got dies to load my own cut down costs.fast round no recoil,pistol hold a ton compared to anything else.they will be empty and you will have an other clips worth.Rifle is fun,50 round little clip on top.had the rifle threated for the quiet option and it isnt bad.my opinion is they both would be an excellent survival / combat duo...can carry tons of ammo and its accurate for squirrels up to two legged game

How about knockdown or knockout power? Against people?

I believe it'd have plenty of knockdown power for a home defense pistol but their would be better choices for less money. I had been looking at the Five-seven with some interest when one "as new" showed up in the local trader for a good price. So picked it up.
It's a fairly large piece but light. It is opposite from my normal carry Sig P239 in that the 5-7 is muzzle light while the 239 is muzzle heavy. Just a different feel. The 5-7 has very little recoil enabling fast shots, easily. I would recommend it for something different or if you want to be able to carry and shoot a lot of ammo. (It'll cost you though.) It comes with three 20 round plastic magazines and the ammo is light weight.
When I shot it for the first time I compared it to my 239. I shot 13 rounds from the 5-7 at 35' in about 10 seconds. Then I did the same with my Sig only I had to switch magazines. About the same results as far as accuracy. To be honest I haven't shot it since that one outing and were it to do over I probably wouldn't buy one.
