Taurus or Glock?
I've decided to add a 45 semi auto as a CCW.
Have narrowed it to a Taurus PT145 Millenium and a Glock 30.
Both seem to have good reviews with the Taurus having some early problems that have been corrected. My hands are large enough for the Glock.
There is about a $150-200 street price favoring the Taurus.
Any reason to spend the extra bucks on the Glock?

Hey steve have you considered the American made Springfield XD's price should be around the same as the Glock or a little less, and they are fine weapons.

Glock 30...Been carrying one since they came out and it's my favorite. Never had a hiccup in a couple thousand rounds. I have an XD 45 also mighty fine weapon but the butt is 1'' longer and prints when I wear tshirt etc. 14 rounds and the stainless mag makes it heavier too.

I'm not a Glock guy (not knocking them, just never owned or shot one), but I did own a 9mm Taurus. It was a Brazilian knock-off of the Beretta 92FS. Ultimately, I sold it and bought a Beretta. The difference was night and day — the Beretta slide racked tight and smooth while the Taurus felt a bit like the slide was moving a little from side to side, kind of loose. My hunch is that the Glock will be a much higher-quality and more durable gun.

Yes, I have. Thanks for reminding me as it's one I should reconsider.

You're probably right. I've had a 92FS for about 15 years and it has been flawless.

Not trying to start a debate here just a little fyi. Look at your slide on the springfield and see where it was made. Nice pistols but just not completely American made. Again no flame just fyi...

I have own both Taurus and Glock in 9mm. I carry my Glock 26 99% of the time. Several hundred rounds through it and never a FTF. Pull the trigger it goes bang every time. I did buy a couple of +2 magazine extensions. Go with the Glock and you will not be sorry.

As a glock certified armorer I am a bit biased toward them. They are amazing for simplicity and design. Very few parts and ultra reliable. I have a Glock 22 for work and a 27 for off duty. The 27 is a bit thick and heavy, but the capacity is nice compared to my J-frame Smith .357.

Personally, I dislike Glocks. What's important to me is stability for the second shot and the Glock is a bit top heavy by design. With this design, my second shot is not as much under control as I'd like it to be. Great reliable weapons, but I can't shoot 'em accurate on the second shot to save my life. (no pun intended)
I have to say I've never been one much up on the quality of Taurus. I've heard they have come a long way in the past ten to fifteen years. Could just be my inability to change.
I did find a new handgun I like. The Kahr .45. It's small. Smaller than either of the ones you mention. I've yet to fire it, but it seemed to have the balance I was looking for. I haven't bought one because I already have too many.

Look at the Taurus Millennium PT 745
Purchased a Taurus PT 745 and have been very pleasantly surprised with the quality; I was pre-disposed based on Taurus' old reputation to expect problems, but no FTF, FTE in about 300-400 rounds and a very smooth trigger.
I have quite a few other choices in the .45 caliber but find the Taurus a pleasure, and it's a fairly compact package compared to some of the others mentioned.

I carry a PT-145 Millenium everyday, love it.
When I was looking for a .45 for everyday carry, I looked at the Glock 30, XD45 and the Taurus PT-145, I Obviously went with the Taurus. I paid $329 OTD
I'm still happy with my decision.

There's a reason a lot of LEO's carry Glocks. They're highly reliable guns. I used to own a Taurus, and the Glock simply feels better all the way around.

You're right Strick I should of said an American Co. I do like the Glocks, and have carried them for years. I bought an XD for my son when he came back from Iraq and really like the way it shoots too. As an FFL holder in the gun sales business I can say that these three brands are very popular I have sold Glocks, Taurus, and Springfields with no complaints from any one. The most requested price quote is definitely the Glock, maybe it is a Hollywood thing but everyone wants a price on a Glock.
