Ruger .380, redoux..

just got a call, I was on a waiting list at a local gunshop and they got one in. I will go in Thursday and pay her for it but can't pick it up because my ccw permit hasn't come through yet. A minor glitch..they found an old 1971 charge that had not been discharged in the retrievable records. I had to write to the district court in Santa Fe to get records of the disposition so it's taking a few extra weeks. No reason to think that I won't get the permit, the NC SBI just likes to frustrate people. I have held both the Kel-Tec and the Ruger and the extra 2 ounces just makes it feel more like a "real" gun. Yeah, I know some of you are happy with the Kel-Tec and I probably would be also but I just like the more solid feel.

I've never been particularly impressed by Ruger firearms or the .380 cartridge. It seems to me like an underpowered 9mm. Good luck, though.

That's exactly what it is:

The .380 you have in your back pocket is a hell of alot better then the 44 mag you left in your safe at home.

Obviously, but I can't imagine anyone choosing a .44 Magnum as a carry weapon (Dirty Harry aside). I still think the 9mm, .40 or .45 are better choices because they have greater stopping power and there are guns of reasonable size and weight that are chambered for those calibers.

Good point and if that's all you can carry then ok. I have an amt .380 backup that I have had for years with a pocket holster. It goes with me only when and I said only when I cannot carry the .45. I have learned how to carry the .45 with just about evrything I wear including shorts and Ts. If I am going to have to draw and use my weapon then I want confidence in it...

I never made the connection before, but maybe the designers of the 9mm Kurz weren't concerned about DMGD. Hey, they can't put that kind of stuff on the Internet if it's not true, you know!

I went and paid the lady the money for her to hold it for me instead of her giving it to someone else on down her list. I paid $50 more than I had anticipated. These things really are hard to find.
I think the "concealed" part of ccw is what I am after. Walking around with a 1911 on your belt is advertizing a small penis. BTW, this place also had the .410 5-shot revolver for a reasonable price. I guess that would go on the other side of the hip from the 1911. You're just advertizing "crowd control" with that little jewel.

I shot about 75 rounds of WWB and Magtech cheapies in my P3AT on Thursday and it was very painful and my accuracy dwindled (even more so as the pain seemed to increase). I will admit it is not necessarily my weapon of choice but it goes with me 24/7, even though I mostly consider it a backup to my 2" .357 snub (which doesn't always go with me 24/7). I like the way the snub shoots and there is no pain.

After this last round I am once again more strongly considering a semi auto of some sort but it would have to be in a .45 acp. I won't sell or trade in the P3AT but I'm less and less enamored with it's small size and ease of concealment than I use to be.

I have the Taurus .38 police chief special which is fun and accurate but it just bulges in the pocket.

Has a .380 or two failed to stop you? Wanna' try & see? I'm betting it would...

Is that a threat? Just kidding. Look, a .22 short can kill you. That's not the point. If I'm going to carry concealed, I'd rather have more firepower than less.

that's my point....there is a finite point where power will exceed concealed carry. From my study of higher physics I determined that the LCP and the P3AT are that point.
I suppose that someone really fat could hide a larger weapon in his skin folds than in his pants pocket.
