Ruger LCP

has now replaced the Kel-Tec P3AT that I was planning to get as soon as the Permit comes through.

I have been checking it out myself...looks are more appealing than the Kel-Tec, but the Kel-Tec is slightly lighter and thinner.

The KT has been around longer, so they have had more time to fine tune the bugs out of it.

I want one!

decisions, decisions...

Was looking at the LCP at our new Gander Mtn last week, Ruger sure looks like a copy of the Kel-Tec.

The Ruger was definitely more Refined, if that is the correct word, the Kel-Tec is a little more rough, manufacturing blemishes, where it doesn't mater, outside of slide, etc.
They wanted $299 for each.

I paid $269 OTD for the Kel-Tec.

I have beeen really happy with my Kel-Tec

I really like the looks of the LCP and being a strong believer in Ruger products I could definately see me carrying one of the LCPs in the future. Otherwise I hold strong to my Taurus .380, shoots damn straight, just a bit bulky for everyday carry.

the Kel Tec is only 8.3 ounces (add another 2.8 with loaded mag.)

I have heard that the Ruger even shares the same part numbers with the Kel Tec... wonder if Ruger is paying them or did they just outright steal their design

Handled one at the gunshow yesterday. I didn't feel comfortable with it and therefore wouldn't want to carry one. The LCP just seemed like a little toy gun. But then, it may be just me, I have no plastic handguns in my inventory.

I think I will stick with my Colt Lightening & my Colt Pony Pocketlite .380s. The Colts give me a better grip feel, are very reliable and I already have them. They weigh just a little more, but not enough to matter. I have not experienced any failures with either of the two guns in many rounds of factory & reloads and they give a decent grouping at close range.
