when I turned in my application the lady said 10-12 weeks process time. well, it's been 10-12 weeks and she called me yesterday. It seems that back in **1971** I was a bad boy and got caught with some illegal drugs. I got a lawyer, for $2000 back then, who got most of the charges dropped and I plead guilty to possession of marijuana a **misdemeanor**. After 1 year and being rehabilitated, I was in grad school, my attorney got the record dropped. Well, in a search of my records, the county sheriff pulled up a charge of possession of LSD but there was no record of what happened to the charge. Now, I have to write to both the Magistrate's Court and the District Court in Santa Fe, NM, since I don't remember which court I was in, and get either a letter of formal disposition or a letter saying their records are un-retrievable and they don't know who I am. She said it was just necessary paperwork and there would be no problem once they see that the disposition was anything but a felony. I am only licensed to be a pharmacist in 4 States but that isn't good enough for them.

I think they have to be like that. We put a huge responsibility in their hands to weed (no pun) out people with records. I think they have to follow the law and can't make decisions on a case by case basis. Something comes up, they report it and you get it corrected. Sorry you're permit is being such a pain but you have to realize the scope of what they're doing.
