I couldn't find the training certificate from my CCW class when I decided to apply for a Florida permit. The company that I took the class from has gone out of business so I could not even get a copy from them. Thought I was going to have to take another course until I read further into the requirements for the Florida permit.
Yep, my DD-214 was all I needed along with the fingerprint card and the required funds. I believe that almost any firearm safety course would be accepted though, even firearm safety held by the Department of Natural Resources.
My only glitch was that I had my fingerprints taken by the BCA (Bureau of Criminal Apprehension) which is the number one law enforcement state organization here. Florida sent my application back stating I needed to get my fingerprints taken by a 'Police Department'.
I contacted them and explained who the BCA was and they said to just put 'State Police' on the fingerprint card and send it back to them. I ended up printing off the BCA webpage and sent a letter along explaining who they were.
A few weeks later I got my permit in the mail. In fact it came the same day I got back from a vacation to Florida, one of the reasons I wanted the permit to begin with.
