getting my Non-resident Florida permit

It looks like I will be legal to carry in 30+ states with my resident Indiana and non-resident Florida permit.
I am taking this course on March 4 to qualify for the FL permit (finally). There are still 4 openings for this class as of today.
Interested? or any comments from anyone who has taken this course?

Had mine for a few years. I have to renew later this year. FL and Utah are the 2 best non resident permits to get.

Just because you are allowed to carry in a state does not mean an officer will know that. I carry documentation from the state I am traveling in. I also carry the federal travel law with me.

I have done the same thing in my travels. I copied the map and the individual state laws from http://www.handgunlaw.us/
I keep them in my tourpack readily available.

Let us know how it all goes down. I've been told that after my Virginia CCW, I need to get the Florida non-resident. That would give you a pretty good coverage of the Eastern US.

I didn't think you had to go through a class to get the non-resident permit from Florida just the paperwork off their web site?

You have to show proof of a firearm safety course. Indiana does not require one. the course I am taking will discuss laws and the do's and do not's from Kentucky (where I work), Ohio and Florida. I will get the form I need to apply for the Florida permit after completion.

And remember...if you are a veteran you don't need a class..just a copy of your DD-214. Firearms training and safety is assumed.

I couldn't find the training certificate from my CCW class when I decided to apply for a Florida permit. The company that I took the class from has gone out of business so I could not even get a copy from them. Thought I was going to have to take another course until I read further into the requirements for the Florida permit.
Yep, my DD-214 was all I needed along with the fingerprint card and the required funds. I believe that almost any firearm safety course would be accepted though, even firearm safety held by the Department of Natural Resources.
My only glitch was that I had my fingerprints taken by the BCA (Bureau of Criminal Apprehension) which is the number one law enforcement state organization here. Florida sent my application back stating I needed to get my fingerprints taken by a 'Police Department'.
I contacted them and explained who the BCA was and they said to just put 'State Police' on the fingerprint card and send it back to them. I ended up printing off the BCA webpage and sent a letter along explaining who they were.
A few weeks later I got my permit in the mail. In fact it came the same day I got back from a vacation to Florida, one of the reasons I wanted the permit to begin with.
