WOW! Kimber Ultra CDP II .45 for Christmas!
HOLY COW!! My awesome husband Travus surprised me yesterday with the gun I've been wanting for months but wasn't anywhere near being able to afford: A Kimber Ultra CDP II .45!!!!
He made up a story about needing to stop at the gun shop yesterday to look at a hunting bow before we headed to a Christmas party.
He disappeared in the back with the gun shop guy Carl, who supposedly needed to show him something he had back there.
I was totally clueless, standing around talking to a cop that was in there & looking at the guns in the cases. I turned around when I heard Travus and Carl coming back out, and I KNOW I did this when he put the Kimber case on the counter in front of me:
Being a girl, I got kinda wishy-washy and teary eyed - I was TOTALLY surprised! LOL!
We went into the indoor range there and shot a box of bullets, and MAN is this thing accurate! It's an INCREDIBLE gun, and I'm still pinching myself!!! I slept with it on my beside table where I could look over and see the tritium night sights glowing!
Merry Christmas all!

Congratulations Lady G. My spouse and I each have the same gun (older versions, but the same gun) They shoot very well considering the length of the barrel. Hers is "stock". I installed a Alexander Mag well on mine since I have kind of a wide hand. I also have another Kimber just like it (just not out of the custom shop). On it, I installed the Crimson Trace Lazer grip. I have a lot of fun with it too. I'm sure you will enjoy yours.
Merry Christmas,
Stashu

You'll grow to love it even more. My primary carry gun is a Kimber Compact. It is a tack driver.
If you ever need Kimber service, I think you'll be more than satisfied. I recently sent mine back for new sights and a re-finish. I thought the gun was fine otherwise. However, they discovered that my walnut grips were cracked and there was a "sear click." They replaced the wood grips and the thumb safety at NO COST. Although they say the warranty is only for one year, my gun is about 9 years old.
Enjoy your present. I'm hoping for a full-size sometimes this year.

Congrat on the Kimber, glad you ended up with the Kimber .45, great choice, my wife has the same. If you intend to carry (duh), suggest changing out to Wilson Combat mags, they are the most dependable...you know what I mean, when you need to depend on no miss feeds. Enjoy! Merry Christmas!!

I'm a Kimber nut....
I really like that color scheme, I have a full size CDP in that combo, and a Springfield EMP as well.
Get some rounds through it and break it in real well, then consider talking to a good Gun Smith about a little trigger work. You will be amazed how much creep can be removed, and how crisp it can be.
For carry you don't want to go too light on the trigger, for my target pistol I am running about 2.5lbs and love it.

I don't think the Kimber out of the custom shop needs any trigger work. Mine didn't. My other one (not from the custom shop) did need however.

Thanks for all the posts and info everyone!
Shot my new gun again yesterday - trigger pull is great - that's one of the reasons I liked the Kimber so much - doesn't have that looooooong trigger pull like the Taurus and Glock semi-autos I've shot and don't care for.
I had figured for what it would cost to get all the extras put on a non-custom shop gun, I might as well pay the money and get the Ultra CDP II with all the bells and whistles. I've heard it's worth it to deal with the custom shop, and so far it has been - the tolerances are fantastic.
Until you shoot something that's really well-made like the Ultra CDP II, you can't really appreciate it compared to other guns. I'm STILL smiling and pinching myself!

Shows I failed the reading test....I missed the Custom Shop...
That should be great right out of the box, and sounds like it is.

Nice pistol, 1911's rule.
I've been looking at the new Ruger SR9, 17+1 in 9mm
