Milwaukee rally, anyone going & your opinion

I havn't really heard much about this rally, but seen it in a mag. for this year. Didn't make it to the 105th, & was wondering if this was worth going to. I saw on their website this is 1 of the top 50 rallies. Had to cancel Sturgis plans this year, since I got laid off.
Thought we would try to go here for our anniversary if we could figure out how to do it on a tight budget.
Any free or cheap museum tickets your not going to use available?
Any comments or suggestions appreciated.

Rick

I went in 2006 I think? It was at the Milwaukee Mile Speedway. Pretty cool to race around the track backwards at full throttle!

Been meaning to look into this years, guess I better get off my butt.

From what I heard, it should be bigger than last year. All of the dealerships are gearing up, and the bars downtown are getting ready. If anyone is coming from out of state, PM me and I can show you around.

what is a good motel to stay in downtown? close enough to walk to the museum? or is there shuttle services?
I was planning on going to the museum this weekend but didn't realise that the rally was going on.

The museam isn't really downtown so there isn't a Hotel within walking distance. Let me look to see if I can find you something close. But I think either way, you are going to have to take a ride. Give me a few minutes.

To my knowledge Milwaukee, doesn't have any real good motels downtown by anything. Just go to muesum during the day before drinking. Still leaves an issue about what to do at night.

The Astor's web site is down. The biggest problem is parking if you want to stay in Milwaukee. Most of the downtown Hotels don't have a parking lot that you can keep a eye on your bike.

Personally, I would stay in a hotel in a Suburb of Milwaukee. I'm in West Allis, I'm about 15-20 minutes away from any attraction going on. Look for a place in West Allis, Greenfield, Wauwatosa. Greenfield is the safest area and is boardering West Allis.

I'm still going to keep checking to see if I can find anything for you. There is a Hotel called the Iron Horse that caters to bikers, but I can bet that they are probably booked.

I worked couple blocks away for few years, but just don't know. Nothing is right there. There was talk about some motorcycle hotel opening, not sure what happened.

Muesum is on the edge of the Mexican area. I go down there, but I wouldn't wander alone at night. But I overly worry about that stuff.

The # streets run north to south, with 1st toward the lake. MI an WI are east west, on the north side of the river. National is on south side of river, Hispanic.

Agree stay out of Milwaukee. I would go north. IMO its alot bettr then west allis or greenfield. Northern Ozukee has smaller town feel. about 30 minutes. For about the same amount of driving you could be in alot better area.

Here is the link. It looks like they still have a few rooms left. They are the expensive ones though.

So she can translate when they say give me your money, as if the gun in your face isn't enough. I am some what exaggerating, but if you think that matters How much crime is black on black?

The area isn't awful, but I don't go there at night. Not as bad as north side, but I simply don't see the reason.
