Need info for western Mich trip

I'm planning a trip to Michigan's western shoreline in mid August. I plan to come up 31 to South Haven and then continue north to Grand Haven, Muskegon, Manistee, around the Leelanau peninsula towns, and Traverse City. I may go to Charlevoix and Harbor Springs. We're going to do all this in 5 days.

Where are the best places to eat and what things should we stop to see?

Seeing as how you haven't had any response, I'll give my $.02.
I've spent alot of time in Michigan but most of it was for fishing. I've been to South Haven and it is nice. Luddington is a nice little town. I took the kids on a light house tour in Silver Springs (I think) and it was neat.

The only food I can recommend is in Newaygo. It's more towards the middle of the state but, there is a little hotel and diner there called Kronk's. The hotel is basic but clean and the food at the diner is pretty good. That's where we hole up for steelhead fishing.

Try the North Peak Brewing Co. in down town Traverse City. Good food and good beer. If you continue on to Mackinaw, go to the Dixie. Audy's by the bridge has great breakfast. The Keyhole bar is a good spot downtown, too.

I'm going to kind of do the same trip at about the same time but coming from the eastside of the state.

I will be going from Plymouth, MI to Port Huron, MI to Midland, to Charlevoix. Using Charlevoix as my base and going out on rides from there.

Make sure you have a helmet. Michigan requires them.

Well, it aint cheap, but every year for our anniversary we go to the Perry Hotel in Petoskey for an excellent dinner. The hotel is on a hill above the bay and the dining room has large windows overlooking the bay. They usually have live piano music. The view is awesome, the food is great and the ambiance is very relaxing. We are already looking forward to next year.

We don't actually stay at the hotel, so I can't speak to what the accommodations are like. We camp near Charlevoix and drive into Petoskey for dinner.

I live in Charlevoix. If you want the best hamburger in the state, you need to stop at the dairy grille in Charlevoix. Also you need to take the ride up M-119 from Harbor Springs to Cross Village, very nice ride on a scoot. Anyone need any info on Local Bike nights, good wrenches, etc. drop me a line.
