No, I'm going to be onboard Lejeune itself. I think Pedro may have been grounded and their SAR mission turned over to the Coast Guard.

I'm happier knowing I found a place and it has a big garage. Now I have to see if I can get my HHGs picked up and taken straight to my place. Still sucks that I'll be renting two places for a while. Jacksonville isn't the dump I thought it would be either. Next to Bremerton, FT Lewis or Norfolk it looks pretty damn good.

The main roads around these parts has been a heavy dose of salt.
Some of the back roads where drainage into protected waters/swamps are saltless--so they will spread sand.

Not sure what it is, but the salt they are using in the last couple years seems different. Dust clouds of salt can be nasty.

I was out today and we are still a week away from salt free riding, perhaps more.

Big piles of snow from the plows more or less everywhere. So even though the streets are basically dry, every low spot is a salt pond.

The DOT uses either calcium chloride or sodium chloride as road salt. Calcium chloride is claimed to be non-corrosive. However, when either of these salts break down in the environment we get components of chloride...which is corrosive. Chlorine being one of the most invasive and corrosive elements known.

The moral of the story is...in either case...we fukt!

ANd once again, ECat gets it done.

Possible rain next week. If not, I'm gonna buy a trailer and head south.

When I have a destination I including my wife really like the interstates here.
My bike runs silky smooth and better at GPS speeds of 75 to 85.

That wasnt always the case with lighter bikes but the RK, it just plows right on, never seems to break a sweat or side tracked by the semi's gusts of wind shooting out form the sides.
I have REALLY come to enjoy it, call me A.D.D. but where I live, 2 hours to the Smokys or 2 hours the other way to the beach, love the ride of getting there, maybe more so the interstates in the mountains, the beach is a little more boring.
Yes, of course, at times its great to just cruise the local city and rural roads but ... we also have HOT summer temps that are typical of 95 to 103 for months in a row, so to much local can wear thin on you.
