Sweet
Dude, Little did I realize at the time, that was as close to a perfect sled as it gets. Supple yet firm ride. Crisp handling with that steep FXR neck. I was a fool for selling it. I had bought it new, too. I also had a '83 FXR shovelhead that was good, too, that I traded in on that one in 1985. But, you can't look back - onward and upward.

I'm glad to read posts like this. I have a RK that has been with me for almost 10 years. Needless to say its a deep love affair but every now and then when she is misbehaving I feel like cheating. I'm glad I haven't because I know would regret it. Broken motor mount bolts last week made me think the end was near. Horrible noises and vibrations seemed to be coming from everywhere. So happy to find out that 5.00 worth of grade 8 hardware was the cure, I went out and bought her a hundred dollars worth of velva ride motor mounts.

Wow, what a beauty. I can't imagine life without my Lady Lux. I'm sure she's doing well.

Just sold my 84 yesterday. First year of the Evo / 5 speed. It was raked, lowered, and the engine was tweaked.
Owned it for 14 years and put over 100k on that ol'e sled. I'm sure I'll miss it, but now it's picture hangs next to my old Iron head sporty's pic on the garage wall to keep my E'glide company.

That was a cool looking scoot to say the least. Definitely not a cookie cutter bike.

I'll be honest....when I got my '95 softail custom, my '85 fxr took a break for awhile and gathered dust. The softail was/is full of chrome and looked good. The fxr was more plain looking. Well, time marched on and I would pull the fxr out for a quick ride once in awhile, and each time I would remember how nice it was to ride "red" (nickname of fxr since painted candy apple red) However red needed some tender loving care that older bikes need once in awhile and I never seemed to have enough time to get it done.
About two years ago, I started getting red back up to speed, maint done, items repaired, and now, when it's just me.......I ride red. When my wife and I are out, she prefers the comfort of the softail.
There was a time there I was seriously thinking about selling red. I even posted an opinion question here on the v-twin. Damn glad I kept red!
I feel a little ashamed now....leaving red home all those times.....spending time with another bike......I can only hope red forgives me (sobbing..)
