Adapting a Newer Speedometer to a 93 Superglide

Ok...i need some help, I purchased this superglide last year, and the speedometer lost the trip reset deal, Anyways the speedo is in the console, I really like the look of the newer stock harley speedos, is there anything i can do to make one of those work in place of my cable driven unit? Thanks

not unless you swap transmissions with a late model FL.
if i recall correctly, the electronic speedos "drive" off the trans sensor.

you do not need a transmission from an FLH. You need an aftermarket case from STD or S&S. Both of these cases have the mounting boss and hole for the newer speedo sensor. All of the guts from your transmission will go right into an aftermarket case. The new speedo is easy to wire into the sensor and switched positive electrical connection.

springer- will become famous soon enough
Or you can use a 2000 FXR stock transmission case, if I am not mistaken, it also has an electric speedo. The stock '93 case could also be modified to fit the sensor as well. There are a couple different speedo's. One only works with the EFI system and will not work direct with a speedo sensor, I believe the 2002 and up ones will not work.

My brother has a 93 case. No mounting boss to drill for the sensor. To modify a 93 case for a sensor requires welding onto the case to build up the area in order to mill it flat and drill the hole for the sensor. Either way the case comes out of the frame and all of the guts come out of the case. Cost on a new STD case was less than $200 last time I bought one.

I talked to STD today about a new inner primary cover for my FXR4. $415. Delkrons are about $100 cheaper.
