Not a Low Rider?

Hey guys,

Got my bike today. 1988 FXR... something. It was advertised as a Low Rider, and it is sure as hell low, but I now find that it is a "police model." Does that make it an FXRP?

On the title, under model, it says FRP. Under "series body" on the title, it says FXRSLRS. When I called GEICO to get the insurance up on it, they said it was a "Harley-Davidson, police model."

The VIN says 1HD1EKL1XJY133*** if that helps.

Any help on ID'ing the exact model type would be appreciated. It has dual discs up front, which I thought was only on the Sport model that year.

It has been modified to hell and back, with a different tank, forward controls, lowered with Koni shocks and bobtail rear fender. Oh, the nimrod also gold plated just about every single fastener on the damned thing, which is gonna take a long, long time to change out.

On the flip side, I have receipts showing the mods, with the engine balanced, heads flowed, new pistons, a CV carb with Thunderslide kit, Hooker 2-into-1 exhaust, and a few other goodies. The motor runs like a raped ape, to be sure.

The custom paint job is a hideous black, green, and gold thing.

The Corbin Gunfighter seat has a hole in it.

The JayBrake forward controls have issues on the right side, and I've already scraped 'em a few times. Gotta replace 'em with something less bulky.

But she's mine, sounds like heaven, and runs like hell.

I'm in love.

The "EK" in the VIN designates it as a FXRP, or Police model. The "J" means 1988 model year.
