Chrome inner primary cover for '86 FXR?

Does anyone make a chrome inner primary cover that would fit a '86 FXR?

Thanks,
Paul

I have actually been looking on eBay for the past 6 months or so, and I have never seen one available. The cheap chromed metal cover that bolts over top is available, but I am looking for an actual inner primary case that has been chromed... I have the cheap one, and it looks... well... cheap.

Gotta say I have never seen one on EBAY either. The 85, 86 are the bastard years for the FXR. I think having the stock one chromed might be the only option.

Thanks... that is what I figured, but I thought I might as well ask here before going down that road.

They definitely made them for our range of years. I have seen them on ebay before, but they went for more than I was willing to spend.

Get your chromed-that way you will still have the original part on the bike. Should be back on the road in a couple weeks.

Yeah, that looks like the way to go. Anyone have any recommendations of who to use for the chroming?

Browne's has always been the best stuff for motorcycles. True triple plate.

Thanks, econnor. After doing some research online, it seems like these two shops are the ones most recommended:

www.brownsplating.com
www.chromemasters.com

Anyone have any experience with one or the other? I am leaning toward Chromemasters in Nashville, since I will be in town a few weeks from now and could deliver the part there in person.

Browns is a very well known plater-I'm sure either one will do a great job.

I have experience with Brownes and several other platers but not Cromemasters.

Brownes has always been extremely good. Some of the other platers might do good work on car bumpers, but bike parts with machined surfaces are something else.

Chromemasters might also do very good work. But they sponser the Orange County Clowns, and out of principle I am not doing business with anyone that buys into those clowns. At least if I can help it anyways.
