Changing lifters in 89 fxrs

Hi , Was wondering if i can change lifters with engine still in the frame or does it have to come out.
Was going to undo front mount and see if that gives me some extra room ,but thought i should ask first.
Thankyou. 89 fxrs lowrider

Yes you can easily do that work with the motor in the frame. You will have to remove the rocker boxes, and pull the pushrods out. But your tubes should be removable. If not then the heads will have to come off. The other choice is to cut the tubes and pushrods with bolt cutters and install adjustable ones anyways. I'm sure you will want to put a cam in along with your new lifters. So adjustable pushrods will be an obvious choice. If you do go this route, then you don't have to take anything off, just cut the pushrods and tubes and take the cam chest apart.
