Detachable Sissy Bar/Bracket

I have searched high and low... from the great Oceans of the Atlantic to the high alps of K2 and the best thing I have found is a bracket that is mounted to the top of the fender made by Milwaukee Twins, click here for the link to JP Cycles... is this my best option? I am not a fan of the fixed side plates, but if anyone else has found a quick release type system I would be very interested to hear.

Sincerely,

Riding Solo in So Cal

There are all types of quick detach sissy bar systems available from hd... I'm not understanding what problems you are having in not finding them...custom fenders, solo seat issues etc.

I've had quick detach setups on all my bikes at one time or another.

Yes there is but not for FXR's, and more specifically(should have mentioned) a 1988...

Thanks for posting about the removable bracket. A little pricey but it is a good looking solution for putting a removable backrest and rack on a FXR.

Take a docking kit for a 98 Dyna and you will need to oblong your fender strut holes by I believe 1/4" Exchange the inside washer for one slightly larger to hide the enlarged hole and of the same thickness and there you have it!

Uh Oh, didn't mean to get your hopes up. Initially I did not notice the year of your ride. I don't think it will work on your FXR. It may be worth getting the measurments and comparing however. With a little width modification you may be able to get it to work. Sorry I didn't pay more attention to the original post.

Thanks for the inside tip... if it works for my year, but where would I go to compare these specs?

I believe it would be possible with some modifications/fabrication to mount the docking setup with the addition of some newer yr model fender struts etc, but didn't know if you were just wanting a bolt-on solution...

Your concern here is going to be the width of the rear fender at the frontmost and rearmost attachment points. Any dealer will have that info but since I used my docking kit (1998 Dyna) as an example I can give you those. My rear fender at these points between the struts is 7.25 inches.
