I am not sure if this seat would work on your 82 FXRS but you talk about a comfortable seat....look at the "stock" seat for a 1999 FXR3. I have it on my 1999 FXR2 and it's wonderful....best seat for the FXR in my opinion, I am just not sure whether you have to have a seat that is "hinged" or not.....if you don't I would certainly look at one of these seats...

eBay has stock and aftermarket seats all the time. There're a few Mustangs selling right now.

if you can find an older corbin gunfighter, they are extremely comfortable. The down side is the passenger seat is not from what I've heard, but then again I don't ever sit there.

Shovelpete The 82-94 fxr one piece should enterchage. You just have to get the bracket that bolts to where your tank bolts at the rear. Now say'n that you may still have to fine tune the tabs on the seats i have had to but the seats fits. Check out c&c also good look'n seats and i put a two up from saddle men on mine.

FXRS questions please help

If you like the style of the old seat, you may consider getting it reupholstered. New foam can be put on and the covering can be pretty much whatever you want as far as color, style, thickness, etc. I did it for my old Lowrider for a very reasonable price. I went from one with buttons (uncomfortable) to rolled and tucked. Much better looking..... and more comfortable ....
