I have the V & H Short Shots on my 08 Night Train and they sound great! Pretty loud, a deep rumble, I love 'em!

I have a set on my '05 FXST and like 'em pretty well...very loud, though.

Not arguing, just answering. I like the looks but not the sound (too raspy) or the performance (no low end, sweet spot 1K rpm wide and then runs out of breath right when the fun was beginning). I replaced mine with a SE Pro 2 into 1. Much better. I only wish I'd have bought a V&H ProPipe instead but both sets of pipes came with the bike (bought it used).

If you want a sweet usable torque curve like Jerry's, skip the overpriced half length drags. If you don't care and they make you happy...then who cares about torque curves?

I had them on my 03 FXDL and they where ok....changed to a Rhinehart 2-1 and it's MUCH better sounding. The short shots were just a little too loud for me when I was out crusing around.

Had them on my '03 softail. They're kinda high pitched and "snappy" more like a string of firecrackers than a rumble.

Something like the Thunderheader 2-into-1 is not as loud but a much deeper tone and better performance, but as I'm learning, there's a good chance my V&H weren't tuned correctly.

I like the look of the V&H ...shots because the heat shield is cleaner. Also, the inverse turn at the rear cylinder did a pretty good job of keeping heat away from the rider.

You might consider the big shots or long shots if you are looking for a little lower tone and definitely if you are planning to take a rider -ever (unless you're just looking to brand her ankle)
