Is it hard to intall slip-ons?

Wife just got a 2008 Deluxe with OEM mufflers. Have narrowed it down to V&H straightshots or Rush slip-ons. Is this a DIY project?Anyone have any tips or instructions. Thanks.

I did my Rush slip-ons in about 20 minutes.

A little WD at the joint and a little back and forth with a strap wrench on the stock muffler to loosen it up.

Make sure to wipe the new ones down with alcohol after intstall to remove all grease/fingerprints before startup.

I warmed mine up a couple of times with a cool down between before I went for a ride.

Well said-
I would do the slip ons over a complete VH pipe-save some coin as well.

Just an update. I ordered the rush slip ons from the previous poster and sponser of this site, HDpipes.com. I ordered them yesterday morning, and this evening they are on the bike. He also beat the lowest price I could find on the net. Less than 36 hours and they are installed. It would have been sooner but I didn't get home until 4pm, and I'm jack legged at best when it comes to this kind of stuff. I don't usually go out of my way to complain, or recommend service, but, if you are in the market for a new exhaust, I'd give this guy a chance to earn your business.

So....how do you like the sound? Did you go with the 2.0?

I may be giving HDPipes some bizz based on your rec.

No, I went for the 1.75. It's the wifes bike, a 2008 Deluxe. It sounds great in the garage. I started up my Ultra with V&H slip ons, and the Rush pipes are noticably louder, but sounds good. Again, based just on my experience, I'd give the guy a chance. He did good by me.
