Any QUIET systems out there?
After owning my '04 FXDL for only a few days I'm already VERY tired of the racket. A previous owner had put the obligatory loud pipes on it. It sounds nice, but is just too loud for my tastes. So what's the deal; Does anyone make pipes that are nice and quiet? If I just want to hunt down a stock system, can y'all tell me what will fit? I imagine that there is a range of years that are all the same, no? Is the stock system so bad that I will lose 600 horsepower and never be able to climb my driveway again?
HELP!!!!????

You should be able to pick up a stock system on eBay dirt cheap.
You can also go with Screamin' Eagle. Decent performance without too much "loud".
What type of pipes are on it? You may be able to get more for your used pipes than you'd pay for a used stock system.

I just threw on a set of CVO pipes for a 103". They both have cats in them and are so quiet, they sound like a fart in a mud puddle. However, my seat dyno says there is no difference from the V&H ovals I had on previous.

Nice sound but quiet
have the Screamin Eagle slip ons, slightly louder and deeper than stock but still what most would consider quiet. Decent price and nice looking with changeable tips.

I had Harley-DavidsonŽ DynaŽ Slip-On Mufflers which are 49 state legal. They sound just a little deeper and louder than the stock mufflers and they flow better because they are slightly larger in diameter.

my bike is not stock, high compression, big cams, extensive headwork, etc: have been trying to make power and quiet for over a year. namooz designed a great muffler thatis quiet, but like all other quiet systems, i gain a ton of torque, but get serious ping and heat packs back into the chambers.
skyhook just turned me on to some 110 stock exhaust which i will try over the next couple months. still hoping! would be great to keep 1/4 mile times in early 11's and hear nothing but wind---------but per conversations with the geniuses of motor builds, i get the same response. " you want power and no noise? "

Screamin' Eagle-Buddy of mine has em on his CVO VRod and they are quiet but still make some power.

The 103's I have on right now work pretty well, but they do hold heat. My oil temps went up 10-15 degrees and I notice a bit of ping as well. Of course, I may have had the ping all along and just couldn't hear it. I'm waiting for a set of 110 take offs to see what the difference is. Meanwhile, I intend to toss her on the dyno to see what, if any, difference the 103's have made over the VH ovals.

sell? with all the folks snatchin the good stuff to install the centerfold stuff, we dont pay for stock.
would be nice to pay it forward----------someone may have something you want one day. this is how the biker world works. back in the day, the clubhouse had a "swap wall". lots of parts for free, deal was, take one, leave one.
