Springer with VH longshot with NO baffles question

Gang, I have a 97 heritage Springer, Carbed of course, with Vance Hines long shots with NO BAFFLES. Was like this when I bought it. Love the sound, but a bit loud for neighbors... he he.. anyways, QUESTIONS: If I install some quiet baffles, do I have to have it remapped? How much quieter will it be? and lastly, ANY noticeable changes in performance, gas mileage wise or performance? thanks, from bob and his upset neighbors......

I had the same pipes on my 98. Mine had the standard baffles and they were loud. I tried the quiet baffles. It is better. I had to have my carb jetted to work with the pipes. If you had it done with no baffles you may need to get it tuned again. If it pops when you decelerate or go down hill it is too rich. I have an S&S carb. If you do also it is very easy to swap the main jet. You could get it very close just using seat of the pants tuning. If you don't have an S&S get one. It is the first mod I did on my bike and the difference was amazing. A big improvement from the stock carb.
