Everything you want to know about a Rhinehart 2 into 1 on a softail

Got a Rinehart 2 into 1 just before the holiday weekend. It took me and my brother about an hour to install ( old exhaust was already off ). The installation is straight forward if you take your time and lay out all the parts. The pipe was completely sealed tight with the first attempt. Below is a list of items you absolutely need to install that is not mentioned in any of the adds:

EXHAUST CLAMPS from a 2002 or earlier. This is due to the header pipe on the Rinehart is bigger at the exhaust port and the newer thicker exhaust clamp will not allow enough threads to show on the exhaust studs. I had a chrome set laying around that worked perfect.Make sure you use the supplied exhaust gasket also.

High temp gasket maker/ sealent to seal the joint from the collector to the megaphone. This is in the installation directions to use this type of product.

There has been some confusion over how many O2 sensor bongs there are on this exhaust. Mine has just ONE on the front cylinder header pipe. It came with a plug already tightened to seal it up.

The sound is a tough one. I came from Samson rip saws and loved the true Harley rumble they produced. The 2 into one still allows you to here each cylinder fire but it sounds too familiar to a rice burner to be 100% happy with it on idle. At cruising speed it is mellow and enjoyable. When you wick the throttle it really barks. It is explained as being comparible to the V and H pro pipe with the competition baffle but a deeper tone? Hard to explain sound but hope this may help you. If I had a touring bike I would not hesitate to put this on as you wont here it over the radio etc.

All in all, this is a great looking quality pipe. I have no regrets. Maybe I'll buck up and become a premium member to post some pictures for you to look at.

Softtail2, pay your $15 premium member fee, it's worth it since pictures are worth 1000 words in many cases and more selfishly so that I can see how your new Rinehart 2-1 looks on a Deuce! I just replaced the Python 2-1's on my Deuce with a V&H BSS's. The Rinehart 2-2 Flush & new 2-1 pipe were on my short list of choices. Wish you luck with the Rinehart's.

Pay up and Post up

I'm looking at the Rinehart 2-1, as well. would like to see more pics other than the one's on their website. 2-1 don't seem to be a popular choice around here, so finding one installed where I can see and hear is proving to be difficult

Ride safe

Re: clamps, before I installed mine, I ordered a new set of exhaust clamps for a 2004 softail, used screamin eagle gaskets ( which are slightly thicker than supplied james gaskets that come w/ rinehart 2-1) and had plenty of thread on studs. Pictures :my fat boy pictures are on a thread called " installed rinehart 2-1 today"
