Stock pipes on 06 Deluxe

I have an 06 Deluxe and like the stock pipes, so I cut out a 1 1/4" hole through the back of the baffle on the stock pipes. Sounds great!

With that complete, if I get the airfilter kit and have the bike re-maped, will I get the same or simular performance as getting aftermarket pipes?

BTW: is there any chance of damaging anything on the engine?

You should not damage the engine as long as when you get the filter you get the flash for Stage 1. Can't speak to performance but I would assume it will breather better and therefore perform better than stock.

I'm selling an '05 Deluxe for a neighbor. (http://www.cycletrader.com/addetail.html?83504103) It is bone stock and sounds awful. Boring out the stock pipes is a cheap way to go and it will run good I'm sure. Just get the filter kit and power commander or stage 1 flash. Personally I'd go with a Pwr Cmdr because it will get you closer to peak performance.

I had a '00 Heritage with bored out stock pipes. I replaced them with V&H straight shots. Besides being louder, I don't think it ran any better. Drag pipes are drag pipes. They sure looked a hell of a lot better. though.
