V&H BSS Baffle Question?
I've seen what the BSS Quiet baffle looks like from various web sites, but I'm trying to get an idea on how BSS Standard baffle is built and how it compares to the Quiet baffle. Who can help me with this?

Do you have a dyno chart you can post or send me. I will be putting D&D Fat Cat 2-1 and SERT tuned next week.

I'm not sure the dyno will impress you all that much. 96hp & 94tq. The tq does not really come on that early either, but that is the cam and not likely my pipes. I'm now researching new exhaust options because the Python's have not performed as well as I had hoped, and yes I am considering 2-2's.

The stock baffle is basically just a hollow metal tube with fluting (holes like a cheese grater) in it. It also has a cork screw type twist to it. Thats basically it, nothing fancy.
I have the Quiet Baffles in my Python Staggered and love them. Nice bassy throughty sound. Makes the bike sound like a V8 with Flowmasters/Magnaflows on. Set off car alarms with no problems. The stock baffles were just too loud for me, especially since I often get home from work at 4AM (night club bouncer).

Having the Python 2-1's, I've grown to like the deeper tone they produce and was hoping that if I end up going in the direction of the BSS, the Quiet baffles would deepen the tone to where it's similar to the Python or Propipe.
Also I would have my build re-tuned with the SERT using the Standard baffles so that I can have the tech run the sniffer past the crossover point and he will not have to punch a hole through the baffle to do so, which is what he would have to do using the quiet baffles.
I would hope that the quiet baffles would help eliminate the 2400-3400 rpm dip that seems to be characteristic of the BSS's.

From what I have heard...the dip is characteristic of the pipe diameter, not the baffle. The diameter of headpipes are supposed to be 1 3/4" for approximately 30" for proper exhaust velocity. I do not know what the Big Shots are but I have heard they go to 2" too quick. I am trying to figure out what pipes to go with and I think I am going to call VH.
I have heard many folks say, stick with stock headers and run Cycle Shack slip ons or go with a Thunderheader.

Let me know what they tell you, but as far as I know the BSS are not a stepped pipe except for maybe where the baffle is placed, it could have been stepped to accommodate the baffle.
