SE Torque Mufflers
I could use some knowlegable advice regarding slip-ons or possibly a 2 into1 pipe for my 2004 Dyna so I went to my dealer. "I'm looking for *slightly* more of an exhaust note relative to my stock mufflers". I was told all of the HD aftermarket mufflers are the same as my stock ones except for styling, the SE ones are the ones I'd want. We fired up one of theirs with SE slip fit, slash cut Pro (I think) which was too loud for me. One of the others had the baffles removed and was way too loud and raspy. I asked about the "Torque Mufflers" but they had never sold any or heard them. That's why I'm here!
For any of you that may know, and starting from stock, "what would be the next throater slip-on to buy"? Or must I consider a Super Trapp with only a few discs. I really liked the note from my Buell Cyclone with Buell's factory race exhaust.
Thanks,
Rick

Ridewv, I have an '02 Dyna. I replaced the stock mufflers w/ the HD S/E Torque mufflers. My buddy has the S/E slash-downs on his '02 Dyna. The Torque mufflers are a little lame at idle (sound just a tad "wheezy" for lack of a better term) but definitely louder than stock. However, they do have a very nice bark when you open it up and a fine HD rumble under normal driving but not obnoxious. You can motor down your street in the wee hours w/out pissing off your neighbors. In comparison, the S/E slash downs are much louder at idle and when riding. Personally, I like the stock appearance of the Torque mufflers. In fact, if you look down the center, there is about a 1" hole in the diffuser disc. Otherwise, I have a suspicion that they are identical to the stock mufflers. On the other hand, the S/E slash down & baloney cuts have a much bigger opening straight through. To each his own but I am pretty satisfied w/ the Torque mufflers. It sounds like a Harley (unlike the stockers)........'Bean

noise
according to the lastest Cycle World and in conjunction with my own suspicions, not a single exhaust manufacturer in the world makes a free flow muffler for Harley that is decently quiet. it sure seems odd that my harley that makes 55 hp is ten times louder than my *** bike that makes 143hp. i guess with Harley, it's mostly all about looks.

Thanks Bean, this is exactly the information I was hoping to find. I also like the appearance of the stock mufflers. I guess I could pick up a pair of stock take-offs for next to nothing and experiment with my drill? Also thanks for the link RTB. I had tried a search but mostly found posts on "torque" rather than the mufflers, my fault.

Actually this discussion is about sound, but I like the looks also!

Send your stock mufflers to this outfit and get them fixed http://www.fullsac.com/index.htm

Just been to the Fullsac site. All I see listed are Touring mufflers. No mention of this service being available for Dyna mufflers. Anybody know anything to the contrary? Personally I don't care but Ridewv was asking about a Dyna.
