V&H Straightshots vs. Big Shots Staggered

Is there a huge difference besides looks and price?

I mean, are the Big Shots really worth the extra $200?

Big Shots Staggered have a crossover tube between the two pipes to generate a bit of backpressure from pipe to pipe. Supposedly better performance with EFI and better low to midrange HP. Somebody correct me if I have understood wrong.

I am also looking at the Straight Shots and Big Shot Staggered for my '05 Wide Glide. I have the Straight Shots on my '03 XL1200 but like the looks of the Big Shots. I have found some vendors that sell the Big Shots in the $440 range. More than the Straights but not quite $200.
Let me know what you decide.
Steve.

The Bigshots and straightshots are basically the same pipe but the Bigshots have a small generic crossover chamber. I decided to use the Longshots(to completely seperate the 2 cylinders for better fine tuning in my EFI application)and to experiment with the baffles(Stock baffles, quiet baffles,no baffles, and thundermonsters)to see which will give best performance for my specific motor.

Just bought a set of Staggards at www.cyclestop.com at the best price I've been able to find, as well as no shipping costs. I wanted a bit of performance as well as a great sound. Although there are more bikes these days running the staggards, (and I personally prefer the big radius look), the staggards sound fantastic. Can't speak for anyone else, but the staggards cover a bit of everything...style, performance, and most importantly to me, sound!

I ended up emailing V&H and here is the reply I got:

Quote:
Big Shots Staggered - 9 - 10 HP & 5 - 6 ft. lbs of torque

Straight Shots & H/S (both perform the same) - 5 HP & 2 - 3 ft. lbs of
torque

These are base off of stock Harley's and I wouldn't be able to give you
performance figures based on your set up because we develop all of our pipes
on completely stock Harley Davidson's.

Cool Big Shots Staggered

I just installed a set of Big Shots Staggered on my 05 EFI Night Train.

They look, feel and sound fantastic...But Sheit they are loud!

Installed Big Sucker, TFI and the Staggereds. It really woke up the train!

I won't be doing any sneaking out on the bike, thats for sure.

Later

Try the V&H quiet baffles. They lower both the volume and the note of the exhaust.

The Longshots don't have heat shield over their entire length and may be more prone to discoloration than the Big Shots.

Wouldn't that take half of the fun out of it?

Personally, I would rather disrupt someone's bussiness call that they are making in their BMW while driving at 60 mph than have them disrupt my ride because they were looking at their PDA instead the road.

Is the horsepower difference that noticeable? I prefer the look of the straight shots but I want the performance also.

I think you gotta decide what's most important cause you can't get looks, sound and performance. . .I went with the big shots staggered because I liked the look and sound, but as mentioned earlier, sheit they are loud, but they grow on you quickly. I'm ready to receive a shellacking for this, but here goes anyway. . .I don't like 2 into 1 pipes because in my less than humble opinion, they have a suspicously *** look. . .ok, let me have it, yeah I'm a poser. . . . .
