ROY YOUNG is on a distinguished road
Cycle Shack Slip-ons vs E Series

I have a '96 Ultra Classic w/Cycle Shack slip-ons that I really like the sound of. It has a good deep rumble to it but at the same time you can still here the radio just fine. The motor is still an 80" with SE heads and stock pistons, W6H Woods, Dyno-Jet Kit, Crane Hi-4, and Ness Super Sucker. My plan this Winter is to put S&S flywheels in it to make it an 89". My question is, would I benefit enough to spend the money on a good 2-1? I have a Thunder Header on my 88" Shovel, but I really don't want something that loud on this bike. I understand the WB E-Series is a little quieter. Any ideas?

Thank you,
Roy

Frankly, if you like the sound you've got, I'd just keep the Shacks. They won't work as well on the top end as some 2into1s, but they work just as well or better everywhere else. Most 2into1s have a dip in the 2500 to 3000 rpm area, which is where you are when you're cruising.

You would definately benefit (power wise) from the E series pipe, it's tunable so you can not only change the volume, but change the power characteristics too.

I spoke today with a local guy that's been building HD performance engines for years , he does all his power tuning using a dyno ,his advice was that the White Bros. pipe is top notch. One of the best pipes on the market today. He also mentioned that there are some very expensive bad pipes out there including the Rineharts(peak power is not what you want unless your drag racing).

As soon as I can ,the E series pipe will be going on my Deuce
