True Dual Exhaust

Has anyone heard of or used the TCC brand true dual conversion kit. Uses part of the stock pipes. It's a lot cheaper than a whole set. I was thinking of going this route with the power cones. What do you think?

I cannot comment on their new product, but if the quality of their previous pipes are any indication, I would be skepitcal of this setup. I bought their system last winter. I could not get the exhaust flanges to seal. The nuts would bottom out on the studs before it would get a good seal. I compared the stock flange to their design, and found that they had removed 1/8" from the flange. I contacted TCC and yes they admitted to reducing the size of the flange do to customers breaking the studs from overtightening? The chrome also peeled of on install where the flange is welded to the header. You could see that the pipe had not been preped well before chroming as some of the polishing compound was visible on the weld. And yes they admitted they did have some problems with their person doing the chroming, but they did offer to upgrade me to their improved system that they were coming out with. Supposedly the previous design flaws were taken care of and heat shields are now being included for more money( should have been included previously). I refused their offer and got a refund as I did not want to be their test subject for their new system and all the headaches I incurred with the old setup. May be an alright product now, but for a little bit more money and labor, I an looking into the new Vance & Hines true duals that just came out.

The problem with true dual setups (as I see it) is that you pay big bucks for middle of the road performance. If you don't care about performance then rock on. If you do care, it seems like 2 in 1's are the ticket.

Thanks for the input. They say that the kit includes the heat shields. I'll check them out some more though. As far as 2 into 1 I hear they give best performance but I just don't like one pipe on a bagger. I hear that 2 into 2 is the next best choice as the stock setup is not that good. Most of the exhaust note comes out the right side.

Thumbs down

Forget the power cones, they just don't work.

You and me both.

On the other hand, I've gone through 4 "y pipes". Keeps cracking at the rear cylinder.

Next time, its 2 in 1 for me. I've been looking at the new Bassani Road Rage setup, but its awful pricy.
