They Finally Came In!!

After almost 2 months of waiting my BS Staggered came in. I got them on yesterday and dayum it's great! They are loud and deep but not obnoxious. They sound a little louder than my samson's I had which is fine with me. First thing I did was hit the interstate here and haul a$$ I just had to tell someone, I'm so glad I finally got my order in and got those stock pipes off. Of course I had the dealer put the stage 1 kit in also. That wasn't too bad since I'm carbed and don't need the extra $$ for the efi stuff. It added a nice little kick to it. Anyway, thanks for listening I'll post some pics as soon as I can for anyone interested in how they look installed.

Did you rejet the carb? If not, you're probably runnin' waaay lean.

Inexperienced Jetter

2001 FXST Just switched my pipes from Thunderheader to Martin Bros WTF and installed a Forcewinder. I already have the stage 1 and thunderslide kit CV 40. Do I need to rejet? Seems to run very strong and I'm not sure what jets I have. Any suggestions on what to use. I'd rather run a little rich to keep the blueing down. How do you know which jets for best performance to match up for what I'm running?

When I did my stage 1, the mechanic told me that he rejetted. I just recently put the youst power tube in my 04 FLSTC and when I took the carb apart, their were the stock jets.

I don't know a lot about jetting and such so all I can tell you is what I've picked up so far. The stock dyna has a #45 jet (or so I was told) that gets replaced with a #48 slow jet when you ask for the stage 1 kit. That's what my dealer does and I would expect is fairly universal. I know that means the #45 is 0.045" in diameter and the #48 is 0.048" which provides about 13.7% more cross sectional area for fuel to flow. I don't know what they mean by the term "slow jet". If you're interested, the parts cost me about $140 and labor $210 for the stage 1 upgrade.

UCFR, Keihin jets are measured in millimeters. A 45 is 0.45 mm (0.0177"), 48 is 0.48mm (0.0189"), etc. It still works out to 13.8% though. The slow jet is the one that affects idle mixture and low midrange.

Thanks for the info. The service dept told me inches, but no big deal. They haven't made their reputation with me as knowing what they were talking about anyway. Thanks again murph

That's pretty typical, not knowing what they are talking about. I'm taking my bike in tomorrow to have the inner primary mainshaft seal replaced...wish me luck .
