Too much noise with Kerker turndown exhaust

Hi all, lately I'm driving a lot at night and I feel that my kerker exaust (for a 2003 FLHR) make too much noise when I arrive home and my ears buzz. I have stock mufflers as well but I don't like the looks of those. At this point I think I have 2 options:

- Putting some turndown end caps to the stock mufflers (I don't know if this is possible)
- Try to lower the loudness of the Kerkers (maybe inside caps or fiber?)

What do you recommend me?

One added problem is that the guy who owned the bike before me had the end caps of the Kerkers welded so that makes them more difficult to mess with.
