Lifter Sound
2012 EG Limited 5000 miles, went up to Daytona for Bike Week, while I was there Rush installed a modified rear hanger on my front pipe, he loosened the flange nuts and installed the new hanger. Now since then I am hearing this tinning noise like lifters, changed my oil, and its still there, I pulled the plugs, they are normal. I don't think its related to the exhaust work, but I can't seem to figure it out, any suggestions? Thanks

I would check the heat shields screws for tightness and that they are not hitting frame parts when the engine is running

I would first suspect it's related to the last work done. I would change the exhaust gaskets.

Well took the front pipe off at 4:30 this morning, pulled the old gasket out, it looked fine, cleaned off the studs with wire brush, installed new stock gasket. Noise still there, stop at the HD dealership, they said 5000 miles, give it more miles, then we can check it. They said that it is normal, I didn't hear it before. Well I'll wait until 7500 miles, and see if it goes away. Thanks to everyone, maybe I should pull the rear pipe, and check that.

What is this modified rear hanger? Why was it necessary and what does it do? Maybe a picture of it is in order.

My guess is the heat shield is rubbing on the cylinder head. You might check that.

Yes the 2012 EG the rear hanger that came with Rush True Duels are to long, they have a shorter one. They fixed mine at Daytona by adding the short hanger. Now everything looks great, and there is clearance between the rear brake clevis and front pipe.

Is it possible that it developed a small crack in a weld joint ?
I would call Rush and explain the circumstances to them , while it's still recent.
Sounds like it started doing it right after they made the hanger change, usually that's not just coincidence.
