poor man's true duals? Stock crossover bypass?

Found this setup that eliminates the factory crossover apparently by plugging the crossover holes...guy's selling it for not many bucks...made by Big Daddy's or something like that?

Can't find any info at all online. Anyone seen or used these before?

see attached.

I have, also back 10 or so years ago it was a common thing to use automotive freeze plugs to plug up the left side exhaust except for a small hole in the middle to make a 2-1. Same to make cheap dual system. zippers did that quite a bit. Its just auto- freeze plugs and a harley exhaust clamp. It had better be realllllly cheap

Dude, don't waste your money. If I remember there is a step by step post here that shows how to do the freeze plug mod.

LMFAO is that all it is basically? ha!

$35 plus shipping he wants, but...seemed like a lot for two plugs and a clamp, plus...hell...why go to all the hassle to eliminate the stock crossover? Probably lose a little oomph if I did that anyway!

This site rocks. At the very least I'll learn somethin.

Would eliminating the OEM crossover change the sound? Temp dispersion? I'd assume it'd affect torque a little but probably not very noticeable?

so yeah that's pretty damn funny to pay anything more than a few bucks for this DIY. Cracks me up how often people try to sell very common parts for much more than they'd normally go for just because they're "for a harley." I see that with fasteners a lot. Someone picks up a bunch of fasteners from a hardware store and labels them "for harley" and suddenly they're worth 5X?

bah.

anyway...just remembered I have a friend who works at a muffler shop. If i really wanted to convert my stock exhaust to true dual, couldn't I just have him cut the crossover out and weld in fillers?

Just have him weld the freeze plugs. When you re install the heat shield it's going to hide everything. The torque loss you hear everyone ranting about is hardly noticable. What is very noticable is the stereo sound from the individual cylinders firing, and the exta snap you will feel in high speed roll ons.

10-4 on the freeze plugs, but if I understand it, that leaves sections of crossover hanging. The heat shield is then re-attached to cover the gap? I'd rather not have those hanging sections and would also rather leave the heat shield off there as well, for a cleaner open look

just being anal, but...no reason not to do it that way, right?

as for torque...this bike isn't anything resembling a torquer so...no big. I'd like the extra crackle and top end.
