Supertrapp question

I run a 2:1, with 18 discs and the closed end cap.
The baffle is wrapped with what appears to be fiberglass.
Question is, should I remove this wrap for just a bit more free flow, or leave it?

leave it. It will not flow any better with out it and it will sound tinny.

I briefly ran my PP unpacked. Sounded like a bag full of rocks in a soup can. Repacked the baffle with fiberglass cloth and the sound is deep and throaty. Especially on the gas. The fiberglass cloth sounds better than the factory packing. Might be a bit more restrictive than the OEM packing. Never noticed any difference in down low torque either way.

I recall the guy here that used to work at Supertrapp, said that if you don't want to run the packing, wrap the perforated section with sheet metal and secure with worm gear clamps. No loss of power, and a little louder, but not that hollow sound you get with no packing.

Exhaust likes to follow a straight path, when you remove it, the flow is now disrupted and bounces around within the muffler body upsetting the smooth shot it had with the packing. Leave it.
