Vance and Hines competition series

Anyone have these short 2-into-1 pipes? How do they compare to the SEII slip-ons as far as sound? Are they extremely loud or just a tad louder then the SE's? I'm looking for something that's shorter then stock. Short enough to not cover the lower shock bolt. Kind of an expensive fix but they look pretty good too.

loud?

loud? Yes, just as loud as a thunderheader, but not as offensive. A much DEEPER rumble. I LOVE everything about this pipe. My neighbors like this pipe better than my t-header. Like I said less offensive. Everybody comments on the sound. Dyno'ing it real soon. The motor pulls 'faster' from 2600rpm to 6400rpm than the thunderheader did.

Got them, installed them, and went for a ride. Love the sound and the power BUT the heat coming off the rear pipe now coooooks my leg. It's almost unbearable. Are these things supposed to have heat shields?

No, they are a 'competition' pipe. you can use header wrap.

Same reason they are so freakin loud I guess. I'll learned to live with my charbroiled leg for now. Wrap will ruin the pipes finish I think.
