vance & Hines slip on question
What's the difference between these two V&H mufflers? I can't see a difference.
I bought a set from a guy on ebay for $177 and he isn't sure what one he has. They look the same to me.
16725 http://www.vanceandhines.com/product...icslipons.html
16751 http://www.vanceandhines.com/product...icslipons.html
I can't save from ebay so I screen captured them. I hope this works.
Edit:
I see..I'm slow sometimes. The 16751 is for 2009 only and that makes no sense to me because the mounting is the same.

Now that I've posted and answered my own question what do you think of the V&H basic slip on muffler? #16725

Here is what V&H sent me.
I asked:
What is the difference between the 16751 and the 16725?
I know the 16751 is 2009 touring but doesn't the 16725
also fit the 2009? I'm looking for my 2009 FLHT and the
16725 reads like it more of a performance muffler. Does the
16725 also have a 2 1/4 baffle?
Thank you
V&H answer:
The first main difference is that the 16751 has a larger dent on the side of the muffler facing the wheel to allow proper clearance for the shocks. The second main difference is that the 16751 has a new updated style of baffle that makes these very “ Blue Resistant” whereas the 16725 were more likely to discolor. The 16725 perforated core was 2”.
Thanks

Nice sounding pipes!!!! Quiet with a low rumble. The guy I bought them from re-packed them with "Quiet Baffle Packing". He included the label from the packing. I look up in them and see brand new fiberglass. Sweet!!!!! They are for sure the 16725 muffler.

I was going to suggest that the metallurgy might be different. I had some V&H a while back and they blued badly. Looks like you got it sorted out. Sound was great, good luck!

These are heavily blued on the inside but spotless on the outside.

Went on a 320 mile ride today. Great sound when you twist it and quiet when you cruise. Perfect for me.

These ovals are my 2nd set. Had for my 09 FLHX and now my 2010 FLHTK. Only have 3000 miles on the new bike, Still very pleased with the sound...

Well, I took the 16725s off my 08 and bolted them to my 09 and haven't had one issue.

The bolt is real close but doesn't hit. They say the new style has a "dent" for clearance. Since I started this I've removed most of the fiberglass for more sound. I took it off the perforations in the baffle and left it over the solid part in the very back. I had it all out but it sounded tinny and it whistled so I put a little back in.
