Rush slip ons 2.0" -- results and a ?
Ok, so I have been fighting for weeks going with what my buddies and the Harley dealership sales people have been telling me about going ahead and getting some Rush slip ons for now until I can afford $1500 for a complete exhaust overhaul. I got a 2009 Street Bob, loved the look of the bike from the first time I saw it on the floor, that old school look, chopped down with basically nothing on it besides a V-twin and a seat, BUT the only thing that didn't add up was the sound of the weak stock pipes on it. I was looking at some V&H and a couple others, a little more $$ than I can afford currently, so I broke down and went to an HD dealer in mid Michigan and got a set of slash down Rush 2" baffle slip ons. I literally grabbed some tools, laid down in the parking lot and pounded off those stock pipes and put the Rush on there, no other mods, and started her up. F'n loud as hell, and I'm very impressed with them considering how inexpensive they are. I pulled onto I-75 and noticed improved HP immediately, I think more from 1-3 gear, but noticeably more. I rode about 90 miles back home and crept into town, well I can't even sneak into a neighborhood anymore because they are so loud even with my stock V-Twin, I have to click her into 3rd or 4th at 35 MPH just to keep the sound down as much as possible. Ok, that was last week, I just made a trip to Detroit, Ann Arbor, all over Metro Detroit and back, about 400-500 miles yesterday and when I got back around 2 am, I noticed that the exhaust is about 25% LOUDER than it already was. I guess my question is, how much LOUDER can I expect these 2" baffle slip ons to get? I already put about 700 miles on them so are they going to get progressively louder the more i burn 'em up? And also, I do notice after a few hundred miles that I get some popping on deceleration, is that something I can fix with a fuel mapper. I am fairly new to all of this, I love it and I know this hobby i going to nickel and dime me until I'm burned up in an urn, but damn is it fun as hell.
Anyway, so far, I am very impressed with these simple slip ons, I didn't want to get them because it just seemed like the HD dealerships were just trying to sell those specific ones as if they get some kickbacks for each set they sell, but now I see why, they sound great, inexpensive, good sh-t man.
