looking for slip-on muffler for a 2010 street glide
Just got the 2010 street glide and of course I want to upgrade the two into one muffler. Has any aftermarket ones come out yet. I was told the HD screaming eagle did not have a lot of sound to them.

I just posted something about what I settled for until I upgrade to the V&H 2 into 1 big radius next year. I'm telling you, if you want something simple, slip on, get the Rush 2" baffle, baloney cut would probably give out more sound, but I have slash down and they rock like a MF'r. Granted it is a 2 into 2 so you won't get the 2 into 1 performance but you will get some noticeable increase in torque and the sound of them is unbelievable without any additional modifications, and at a price of less than $350, that's why I went for them.

I was on Vance & Hines website a bit ago and it shows their "HI-OUTPUT 2-INTO-1 SLIP-ON CHROME" for Road/Street Glides, part 16779 ($325), is suppose to be out in Oct 2009. I'd give them a call. You might not have to buy something temporarily.

If this isn't the pipe you're looking for there are other 2010 models listed with availability dates.

Well you aren't suppose to have to remap. I didn't do anything other than remove the stocks and replace them with the slip on 2", it runs great. Obviously, you CAN remap and add the stage 1 later, but for now I am happy with the Rush slip ons by themselves. I was primarily just looking for something slightly better than the stock pipes on my 09 Street Bob, what I got was an increase in sound almost bordering on disrespectful to the neighborhood, haha.

Don't discount the Screaming Eagle unit, it works very well, is louder than you think and you can also buy the 'Tuning Kit' from us (SuperTrapp) that has the extra discs, open end cap and the tool to remove the security screws in it. And it's all available now.

The stock 2in1 looks to have a very small collector, I don't have any idea about performance, but I can guess. My guess is that you would be much better off using an aftermarket 2in1 setup, you pick.
I like my supertrapp pipe.

Give it time. Perhaps the catalist will cause it to self destruct and the baffle will fail, ya never know with these HD beta tester bikes, then a indy can change it out for ya and HD will foot hte labor cost for a different set of exhaust
Ok, mean humor aside, Can the catalyst be removed cheaper and the baffle changed out cheaper, that is compared to buing new, seems like prices keep going up despite country economic meltdown.
We shall see.

JTW... as for the catalytic converters in the 2010 head pipes... do these actually cause any degradation in performance, or just add heat. Is the rider better off with no cats in the headpipes? You guys make the 2 to 1 Screamin Eagle for H-D, so what's your take on the cats? Will your SC 2 to 1 slip on work well with head pipes which don't have the cat converters?

You would be suprised at how little the cat effects flow, it kills sound but in new condition it is one of the better catalytic converters ever put on a motorcycle as far as flow.
The Screaming Eagle 'Nightstick' is sound compliant off the shelf, but you can get the 'tuning kit' for it that comes with the open cap, extra discs, screws, etc for more flow sound.
I am in no way saying that with other engine mods a performance 2:1 without the cat will not work better, but with mild modifications (just like in todays modern cars/trucks) your not going to benefit 'that much'.

Hey JTW,
Tell me more about the SE Nightstick, I understand if I use that I dont have to remap??, true. No one at the dealer told me about a tuning kit, is that a HD dealer item. I dont know anything about the disc.
thanks

The 'NightStick' is the Screaming Eagle upgrade slip-on for the Street Glide, comes with 10 discs, closed end cap, and tamper resistant screws to not allow you to adjust the number of discs because the goverment says you aren't qualified to do so. Works very well.
It's a bolt on, no tuning-stock ecu will compensate.
The 'Tuning Kit' is an aftermarket option that includes extra discs, an open end cap, and the tools that now 'qualify' you to adjust the number of discs on your new muffler.
You can get the kit from your dealer or SuperTrapp.
