ears buzzing
Any one have similar? I have a problem with my ears buzzing that is noticable when I awake at night from sleep. Sounds like a electric circut breaker buzzzzzzz. First time I noticed it last year I got up out of bed to look for pump running or short circut, it was funny then with my head up against the walls.
If my supsopisions are correct I am have hearing loss due to too loud pipes, probably from an Ultra I ran duals that registered 93 dcb. Dont own that no more.
Lastly, Im considering changing my road rage baffle to the quiet one, and want to know whats up from any one who has done that with this type of baffle.
On my way to see the ear doc.
Thanks ahead of time.

Quiet Baffle is Significantly quieter...
I would ride with ear-plugs if I were you. If you ride with a 1/2 shell helmet, you're going to KILL your ears quickly from the 70-80 MPH winds generated at freeway speeds. That in itself...will cause rapid hearing loss. The loudness of your pipes isn't helping your situation, but you really ought to consider wearing PLUGS to wipe-out the WIND noise.
The Bassani "Quiet-Baffle" will help your situation some, but it's really the wind that takes the biggest toll on hearing loss.
I'm just sayin.......

ear plugs and you'll be surprised at how more relaxing long rides can be with them. I use these which they happen to have at work.
Howard Leight Max (NRR 33)
the higher the NRR number the better they protect your ears. I've used the basic yellow ones and the rating isn't as high and there is a big difference. Every time I see another thread started on how someone wants the loudest pipes available i think about what you're experiencing.

Between the power tools, heavy equipment and bikes, my hearing is about shot, the buzzing condition you speak of is called tinitus and there is pretty much nothing you can do about it at this point, I generally like to sleep with some background noise. It's funny how you explained it, I did the same thing, I was sitting in my basement and started walking around trying to find the noise, turns out I have slight hearing loss in my right ear but about 60% loss in my left, some days are worse than others.

It's very common, even mowing the lawn can cause this.
Over time noise at work, power tools and riding all contribute.

Went back to touring mufflers
I hope your doc can help you stop the ringing sound. It's a serious issue and I agree with the ear plugs. I pulled my SE mufflers a couple years ago and went with touring mufflers. Much easier on me and my neighbors

crickets, buzzing, electrical tones, wind, chirps, skeeters, humms, etc.
All due to handguns, chain saws, wood chipers, firecrackers, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, and that evil rock & roll.
oh, and PS: there is no cure. Don't give anyone any money if they try to sell you a cure. It ain't gonna happen.

Check your BP.
It also could be related to allergies.

I have very hard to fit ears for earplugs. I bought some of these, and they work really well. They're rated at 34db.

Always wear hearing protection...I wish I would have. The cheapos work great...
I recently had an opportunitly to get some that are custom fitted to my ear. They are VERY comfortable and come in 9 or 13 or 25 DB reduction or full isolation.
Don't mess around...protect what you have left....

Read somewhere a while ago that the James Hetfield from Mettalica has severe tinitus from loud live performances im guessing, stated he needs the TV or Radio on just to sleep.
But yeah after reading a lot of storys about hearing loss im allways wearing hearing protection when working in the shed.

Google search "hearing loss"...Mayo Clinic has a good site. There are several etiologies that could be contributing to your symptoms. Everything from high blood pressure to infection. Wearing ear plugs is very important with loud pipes or continuous exposure to loud noises. Wish you luck!
