Used Pipes off E-Bay??
Alrighty. An auction for a 'like new'/used V&H Big Radius 2-into-1 for 02 sensor Softails ended for $227.50 on e-bay earlier today. I bid on 'em, although I am wary of getting used stuff sight unseen (especially 'almost new' used stuff), but wasn't the high bidder. And I was out as the auction was ending so didn't have the chance to up my bid.
Not sure why someone would be selling nearly new pipes. The description was lacking any details other than "like new", "came off a 08 Fatboy", and "not sure what else it will fit"(!). Like I said, made me a bit nervous, but I bid anyway.
Other than stock OEM take-offs, what do you all think about used exhausts on e-bay? Good deal, or too good to be true? Maybe he just didn't like 'em?
Side note: A few weeks ago, a buddy of mine told his wife that he won on E-bay for a taillight for his classic bike.
She looked at him and said, "how much was your bid?"
He told her.
She said, "You didn't WIN s**t! If you have to pay that for it, it's not like you WON a prize."
May not sound like it, but man that was funny when it happened! We were rolling.

I bought a set of V&H's off eBay for my 96, and they were exactly as decsribed - guy said he installed and they were too loud so he took them off...got em for $200. I was happy...
FYI - I put my entire bike back together after my accident from parts bought on eBay...

I have a ton of stuff, hardly used, that I tried and didn't like and will post on eBay eventually. Some of it I even bought on eBay for 50%. It's a great way to try stuff and if you don't like it no big deal. Who pays retail anymore?

You got robbed man. Those parts are wrecked.
Seriously though, I wish I had that kind of talent with paint. (Talking about the after pic, of course).

I'm new to E-Bay since buying my bike. I bought new V & H slips from Rob's Cycle Supply ($211.00). It was my 2nd bike accessory purchase from him. Also got my highway pegs. I would use him again.
I'm not a fan of used 'anything', for the investment I've made in my bike. Too risky in my opinion. But thats just me.......
mach'er, Too funny. Sounds like you have a 'winner' wife. Good for you!!!

One of those things wouldn't happen to be a 'like new' set of V&H Big Radius 2-into-1's for a '07 Softail, would it?
I'm bummed I didn't get back to up my bid. Thought I'd settled my BR 2:1 versus Sideshots question once and for all by finding that e-bay listing. I guess I'll keep looking as the concensous seems to be e-bay stuff can occotionally be as good as it seems.
Thanks. Later.

Haha, that's why they were so cheap! Thanks, Dave! I got into it as a result of the accident, so at least something good came of it!

Check the seller's feedback...alot can be learned there! If the guy has alot of feedback and has as close to a 100%, if not a 100% rating, then you should not be too concerned...works both ways of course!

That's easy, I now have three sets of pipes for my Ultra at home. the stock take offs, a pair I bought new and didn't like the sound ( too loud) and the CVO pipes I will be trying once my TD conversion gets here.

As long as you know what you want and know how to spot it, ebay is great. Bought lots of stuff from there with no problems. Like stated before lots of people with stuff they ended up not liking then selling on there. I also have found people who buy used bikes and sell what they dont like on the bike. IE pipes, that is why sometimes they dont have many details about them. Just be aware there are scamers everywhere.
