Vance & Hines Softail Hs Propipe

I've purchased this exhaust system for $300 with the promise that it will fit 1984 Softail. Upon checking the internet, It is advertised as a fit for 1986 and up Softails. The kickstart on the '84 must be in the way. Do I need to refuse the deal (sells on most sites for $430) or can I remove the kicker and spring and make it fit?

claydbal will become famous soon enough
an evo kicker softail? a shovel softail?? 1984? 1984 1/2 ? lots of weird stuff during AMF,shovel, evo transition.

anywho, i dont think a kicker would interfere with fit. it may hang on the pipe at bottom of stroke? hoping you are buying evo pipe for evo bike!!!!

1984 was the first Softail and the first EVO (FXST). It was put out with the 4 speed tranny and kicker/electric start. 1985 had the early/late stuff going on. I'm just not sure what the fitment problem might be. As you say, it could be the kicker cannot be used. Don't know if I like that or not.

I've had this scoot since 1990 with drag pipes. I have the top end off right now, so decided to up the Torque/HP. Looking at the posts it seems the 2-1 is the way to go for exhaust. Trying to get used to the look. Problem is they look too much like 70's Honda CB350's.

I'm going with .030 over, -9 domes/9.5:1, mild head porting, Wood W6 cam and Dyna 2000i ignition.
