Top End Rebuild

Since winter is near its time to rebuild the top end on my 86 FLHTC. Its been smoking and leaking oil from the valve covers. Instead of buying separate parts (gaskets, seals, guides, etc) is there such a thing as a top end rebuild kit?

The valve seals will come in the gasket set. After that, you really need to pull it down to see what you are going to need, size wise. The guides may or may not need to be replaced and what size is needed will need to be determined then, the jugs might clean up at 10 over or you might have to go bigger, etc. So, any complete rebuild kit will likely need to be pieced together anyway.

Just what I thought, well at least I can order the headgaskets.

Is their a resource online that can walk me through the rebuild? I have the manual but like to see what others have been through.

Bottom should be fine. But I would never add a new top with out checking the rods for free-play & etc..(while top is off)...

I have over 77,000 on my '97 RK, still un-opened..
And over 127,500 on my '94 FB, still stock bore.....

I'm thinking of pulling the jugs and sending them off to a reputable shop and have them rebuilt. Anyone recommend a good shop in Canada or the US?
